Jon sat down on the toilet, embarassed at having to figure out how to use the toilet as a girl. But then he spent a little more time, thinking. Hasty wishes weren't good.
"Karyn..." she said when she finally came out. "You messed up. We both did."
"What are you talking about, Jon? This is only until we can change you back. Besides, I think you look cute as a younger me."
"You can't change me back!" replied Jon. "You can't reverse wishes, remember?"
"So you've got to be a 9 year old forever?"
"Yeah, I think. And there's something else. When you make a wish, the stone alters reality. It didn't do it the first time because I wished I would have the ability to change, it didn't change me itself. But this time, you made a direct wish to change me."
"So you're not only a 9 year old forever, but everyone thinks you're supposed to be one? You must be my sister or something then...."
"I think so. I bet I have a room here now... What can I do, Karyn? I need to... wait, I have it!"
"You know of a way to fix that?"
"Sort of," replied Jon. "You wished for me to be 9 years old. Well, you can't reverse that and make me 16. But if I wait until my next birthday I'll be 10. Once that happens, I won't be 9 anyway. Then you won't be reversing anything if you change my age."
"So let's see if I have this straight. Everyone thinks you're a 9 year old girl who's probably my sister. We haven't figured out how to fix the 'girl' part, and we can't fix the '9 year old' part until your next birthday."
"That's pretty much it. I'm stuck as a 9 year old until my next birthday, which is...."
