"I know. I wish, since Al Gore won the presidency and he is so ultra conservative, I wish that Al Gore didn't win the presidency."
"Well. Did it happen?" Karyn asked, taking the wishing rock. "I really don't like that we have a conservative as President. I know a liberal, like George W. Bush, would do a better job. I wish that George W. Bush was President of the United States"
"I don't know if it worked either." Tiffany said. "I know. I wish that I had a copy of today's newspaper on Karyn's bed."
The paper appeared and the two girls quickly looked through it to see if the wish had worked.
"It worked!" Karyn said as she pointed to the headline of a story that said "President George Bush to meet with Mexican President."
"It worked, sort of." Tiffany said.
"What do you mean 'sort of'?"
"George Bush is President but he is even more conservative than was Al Gore."
"Maybe we can change some things, but not everything." Karyn said. She was happy as she had not like Al Gore and his getting us into the war in Iraq.
"And it looks like the only thing that changed is that Al Gore and the Democrats are now the Liberals, not George Bush and the Republicans. Can you image anything weirder than Liberal Democrats and Conservative Republican?"
"But what do we do? Can we wish things back?" Karyn asked.
"No wish-backs, remember?" Tiffany said. "I think we should not try to fix the world as it looks like we only made it worse. Maybe my wish will just let you feel comfortable talking to me about girl stuff even after I change back to a boy."
"But how?"
