Maybe, just maybe, the stone would respond to barks. After all, it was Incan. English wasn't its native language. So if it knows English, it knows any language. Right? Could it even understand an attempt to use a dog's vocal cords to speak English?
But even then, how could he turn back? It was impossible to reverse wishes. He couldn't wish to be human... but there has to be some way.
Jon leapt at Katie and pounced on the stone. His paws touching it, he barked out his wish. "I wish that Karyn and myself would die but be reincarnated as humans with all our memories, and the stone would come with us."
He had to look away--it seems that, after all, the stone did understand his "language"--and his black and white canine vision faded away. After some time...
