Karyn blinked as she saw what everyone else had been seeing. Jon the boy had been replaced by a girl whose body filled out the t-shirt and pants far better than Jon's had. She was about 4 inches shorter, with a kewpie-doll face, gorgeous locks of auburn hair that cascaded down past her shoulder blades, and, just to top things off, a shiny silver ring through her pierced navel.
"Wow, Jon," Karyn laughed, "You're hot!"
"Karyn, please!" Jon moaned, "It was just a stupid, silly remark! I'm sorry!"
"I'm sorry, too, Jon - no, wait: I wish that while you are a girl, that everyone but me would think of you as, um, Melanie, and that you will answer only to the name Mel or Melanie, not Jon." flash "As I was saying, Mel, you've managed to tick me off royally twice in the last two days, so just sit tight and live with it. If you're nice, I'll change you back tomorrow. And I'm keeping the rock until then."
"Karyn..." just then the bell rang.
"Oops, don't want to be late for Mr. Mabry's class. We better go, Melanie."
"But - but -" Melanie could only sigh and follow as Karyn walked away.
