The stone glowed and Jon made an expression of disgust.
"I can not believe I'm actually friends with such a loser," he said. "But I am friends with you anyway. Karyn, you need to get with it. Join the 'in' crowd, don't be a loser. Wear some nice makeup, have better clothes, hang out with the right people.... Otherwise you'll ruin my image."
"But you don't, Jon. Are you ruining my image?"
"I don't, right now, but I can start. WHow can we expect everyone to accept us if we're going to look and act like dorks? Give me that stone." Karyn handed it to him. "I wish we're both dressed like popular girls should be dressed. And..."
"Wait, Jon," said Karyn, seeing Jon in a blouse and skirt and jewelry. "You're a guy! Why would you want to dress like Sarah?"
"Because if I don't, I can't be a popular girl."
"Jon, you didn't want to be a girl at all a minute ago. You're just thinking like Sarah, and Sarah thinks of herself as a girl, so so do you."
"I know I'm really a boy but I'm a girl in my heart," said Jon. "I know that we can have friends like Sarah's friends, and if it doesn't work, I can always make a wish...."
