"Are you sure?" Jon (now apparently Jen) asked.
Karyn looked all over herself, but she didn't see anything that could be considered as strange. And she knew that Jen might wish for something like that, as a test to see if Karyn could figure it out. But as far as she could see, she was just as normal as any other girl. And the thing was, she was right, because her friend didn't change her at all.
"Did you look at me?" Jen asked.
Karyn looked up at her friend. "What do you mean, Jen?"
"I changed myself."
"You did?"
"Yeah."
"I don't see anything different about you," she said. "You look like the same girl you were this morning. Even your clothes are the same."
Jen smiled. "Wrong and wrong."
"Huh?"
"I turned myself into a girl, Karyn."
"That's impossible. You've always been a girl."
"Nope. Only for a few minutes."
Karyn just couldn't comprehend it. She suddenly wondered how her life would have been different if she grew up without Jen as her friend. She couldn't imagine growing up with a boy as her best friend. That sort of thing just didn't make any sense to her. All of Karyn's friends have always been girls. Whereas in the previous reality Karyn was known as somewhat of a tomboy, in this reality that was the furthest from the truth. With Jen as her best friend, she had become one of the most popular girls in school and even made the cheerleading squad. Sarah McMillan and the other cheerleaders would be lost with her and Jen. In fact, Sarah looked up at Jen as her role model, as most girls did at the high school.
"I can't believe it," Karyn said. "I just can't."
