By the time the movie had ended, Jonatha and Nicole had missed most of the plot due to their lovemaking. They quickly released each other when the lights came back on. Jonatha blushed a little and giggled, causing Nicole to smile. They stood up and made their way to the exit following the crowd of people.

Nicole checked her phone as they went. She had a text from Shan.

“Hey Nicole! Sam just managed to grab some last minute tickets to the hockey game against Denver. You in?”

Nicole’s heart skipped a beat. She loved hockey—not as much as basketball or baseball, but she loved it. What girl didn’t like sports? She knew that the matchup was very popular, divisional rivals no less, and that it was going to be very hard to get tickets, so she was surprised that Sam had managed to get some.

Without thinking, Nicole replied immediately saying that she would love to go.

Earlier that evening...

“Ah, there you are, Jade. You’re right on time,” Miss Gibson said as she answered the door. The matriarch of the Gibson family stepped aside and let Jade and Diamond in. Having been to the Gibsons' house many times and babysat by them often, Diamond headed straight upstairs to Mikelle’s room.

Lin smiled as she watched the boy go. She looked at her watch and then at Jade. “Thanks for coming over, dear.”

“It’s no problem at all, Miss Gibson.”

“Now, you know where everything is.” Jade nodded as Lin continued. “Zoe’s out studying, and as you probably know, Jonatha is out on a date.” Lin picked up her wallet and car keys which were lying on the table by the door.

“We’ll probably be out quite late, but when either of the kids get home, feel free to let yourself out.”

Jade nodded again. “I will. Thanks, Miss Gibson.” Jade waited until Lin had left before he headed upstairs to see what the two boys were doing. He found them sitting on the floor in Mikelle’s room, playing with his cdollollection.

“What are you two up to?” Jade asked with a smile as he rested against the door.

Mikelle looked up. “We’re playing house!” he said happily. “I’m the daddy while Diamond is the mommy.”

Diamond looked a little unhappy.

“But I wanted to be the daddy!" he whined in protest. “The daddy gets to wear all the pretty clothes while all mommy has is boring suits and shirts.”

Sensing an argument rising, Jade quickly stepped in.

“I have an idea. How about Mikelle plays as the daddy for a while and then you switch later?” he suggested.

The two boys seemed to like that idea and nodded.

“OK!” they chorused.

“Now, would either you like a drink?” Jade asked.

“Yes please!”

Jade smiled and then headed downstairs to fetch a couple of glasses of juice. As he did so, he heard his phone go off. Reaching into his handbag, he saw a text from Buffie.

“Hey, feeling a bit lonely. Fancy hanging out?”

Jade replied saying that he was at the Gibsons, but Buffie didn’t seem to mind, so they agreed that Buffie would come over.

After handing the boys their drinks, Jade then went into the living room and watched some TV while he waited for Buffie to come over.
