Karyn went in the other room and held the stone. She knew what to wish for.
"I wish that the traditional roles of men and women were swapped, and women have been in charge since the beginning of time. All the famous inventors and world leaders have been women. Their clothing will also be swapped, as well as their general attitudes and they way they generally thought about things. And although their physical bodies would remain the same as they are, women would have the strength of men, and vice versa. Boys were raised to be homemakers, girls were raised to be the breadwinners. Finally, I wish that Jon will only remember the old history." Karyn smiled as she thought of Jon trying to figure everything out.
There was a flash, and Karyn realized she was wearing what looked like average boys clothes, although she realized that now they were girl's clothes. Before she could think about it much more, she heard Jon from the other room.
"Oh, ha ha, Karyn, big mystery!"
Karyn ran in the other room and giggled as she saw that Jon was now wearing a denim skirt and a pink tank top. Since Jon only remembered the old reality, he'd instantly know it was strange he'd be wearing those clothes.
"I figured it out, I'm dressed as a girl, big laugh... Change me back or I'll just go to my room and change clothes..."
"Nope, and I don't think you could do that very easily anyway..." smiled Karyn. "You gotta guess what I wished for."
"I don't know, I didn't hear the wish, it could've been anything..."
She decided to give Jon a hint, as she noticed his history book from school sitting on the coffee table. "Hey Jon, why don't take a look through your history book there..."
Jon looked confused, but he picked it up. His jaw dropped as he saw the pictures inside, they looked familiar to him, they were famous historical figures, but something was terribly different...
"What, you changed our history book?"
"Nooo, but close..."
Jon's eyes glanced around for other clues... He saw his mother's collection of old magazines that she had picked up at an elderly neighbour's yardsale and saw on the cover of one...
And finally, what really drove it home, he saw the photo on the wall of him and his sister Zoe from last Easter. He always thought it was a funny photo because his mother had made Zoe dress up in a frilly dress and she hated it... The photo he saw was still him and Zoe, but now something was drastically different.
"Have you figured it out yet?" smiled Karyn.
