"In a sense, shorty. Each time I call you small, you shrink a bit." Karyn flashed a smile that vaguely reminded Jon of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
"A bit?"
"Oh, just one percent of your size at the time of shrinking. I wasn't sure what would happen if I tried to shrink you by more than your height, so I made it scale with you, my little friend."
"But you left me a way to return to normal, right? I'm not going to be stuck as a midget when you're done?"
"Well, you could always use the stone to fix this, since it wouldn't contradict my wish to change your size whenever I belittle you, small fry. But I did build in some safeguards; you'll grow by one percent of your size if I ever refer to you as large--but don't count on it happening any time soon. And, if I say an extra special password, you'll shrink to undo each growth from before the password, then grow to undo each shrink from before the password."
Something didn't seem quite right about that to Jon, but Karyn continued onward.
"Of course, I also made it possible to accelerate the change in my pint-sized pal."
