"What?" Jon asked. "You've seen all these prototypes before. Just because this wasn't an unqualified success doesn't mean it's funny."
Karyn was staring at all the gadgets Jon was wearing. She had no idea what any of them were. "Wasn't an unqualified success? What do you mean?"
He looked down at the device that he had in his hand. "Well, I could detect wide-spread quantum disturbances, so I'm pretty sure you made exactly two wishes, but I've got no idea what they were."
"You know there were two?!?"
He nodded. "That is right, isn't it?"
"Yeah. But that's impossible. They're magical. How can you detect that?" Looking around, she finally noticed that the room looked a lot different as well. It was practically covered in all sorts of electronic devices, most of which she hadn't a hope of even identifying. Actually, most of them looked like they were made in here, so she suspected that Jon was the only one with a hope of identifying those.
"Karyn, I thought we'd gone over all that before you stepped outside..."
She interrupted him before he could continue, "Where's your bed, Jon? This just looks like a lab."
"Well, of course it is. You know I sleep in the house next door. I just prefer to keep working in here, since so much of my success was here. I told you all this before. So what were the wishes?"
