Jon was now a girl. Not just any girl, but a female equivalent of his old male form. Having not heard the wish, he didn't notice that anything had changed. He looked down at himself. He still had the same c-cup breasts, long, braided hair that went down to his knees and was wearing the same outfit: dark blue blouse, black, knee length skirt, pantyhose and Mary Janes. "I don't see any difference," said Jon. "I mean, I'm still a tomboy, my boobs are still the same size, I still like boys and I'm even still wearing the same outfit." Jon swished her skirt around a few times. "Its not my clothing, is it? I mean, a tomboy can still like wearing skirts and dressing feminine, right?"
Karyn grinned mischeviously, deciding to play this out for a while. "No, its not that," she said. Jon did look cute in that skirt. "Its something else. Think about your name."
"But I've always been named Jon," said Jon.
"And what kind of name is Jon?" Karyn asked.
"Its a boys name," Jon said. She suddenly gasped. "You changed my name, didn't you? So what is this then? Is it one of those, 'We want to be different so we'll pick a name that would get our kid beat up, if it weren't for the fact that all the other kids have equally wierd names' or 'We want something different so we'll all pick the same two names for our kids.'"
"Kind of," said Karyn.
"Very funny," said Jon. "Now change it back."
"All right," said Karyn. "I wish that, until I wish otherwise, Jon's name would change to Jen, everyone would call him by that name and it would show up on official documents, like her birth certificate and driver's license."
"'Until I wish otherwise,'" said Jon/Jen. "What's that for? If I've always been Jen, why include an escape clause?"
"That way," said Karyn. "If you decide you want to change your name to something else, you can do it and people will remember you by that name." There, that should allow Karyn to have a little girl time with Jen and still get things back to normal when she changed her back to Jon the male.
"I guess it makes sense," said Jen. "Now, did you want to make any more wishes, or did you want to do something else?"
"Well," said Karyn, with a smile on her face. Having a female best friend might be something she wanted to keep around for a while.
