"BoBo? Are you upstairs?"

Jon opened his door and answered his mothes call "Yes, Twinkletoes."

"Is your friend Karyn with you?"

"Yes,"

Well ask her if she wants to eat over. I'm making cream pies and seltzer water for dinner. It should be very amuseing."

Jon (or "BoBo T. Clown" as he now thought his name was) asked Karyn. "Would you like to stay for dinner, Karyn? My moms a great cook."

"I wouldn't miss it for the world...BoBo."

Dinner was a comedy treat. Jon's whole family had become clowns - both mentaly and physicaly. Jon made comical pratfalls, stumbled over his huge feet, and blondered into walls like a natural performer. His mother (dressed in a polka-dotted pink tutu, with milk-white skin, a round red nose and a great cloud of pink hair like cotten candy) was now "Twinkletoes T. Clown" and she lept, twirled and danced very gracefully as she served dinner. Her husband "Noodles T. Clown" (with his green hair, red and yellow checked suit and huge, purple tophat) and their younger son "Scooter T. Clown" (Yellow and pink sailer suit, blue hair and a long, red nose) blundered about their mother as she danced about.

Dinner consisted of two dozen cream pies and seltzer water...to be eaten by throwing the pies at each other and spraying the seltzer into each others faces. Karyn was laughing so hard she was crying as BoBo and his family flung pie at each other, After dinner they cleaned-up, then it was off to the living room to practice their acts.

Afterwards, Karyn was all laughed out as she helped Twinkletoes clean up the mess. None of the family seemed to think anything was unusual about any of this. After cleaning, she an Twinkletoes sat and had a nice, quiet cup of coffee with a plate of animal crackers.

"BoBo likes you alot, Karyn."

"I know that, Mrs. Twinkletoes."

"I just wanted to thank you for trying to understand our ways and lifestyle. It's not every human who can accept a clown at face value."

"I think you're wonderful people, Twinkletoes."

Twinkletoes smiled at that, her already broad smile growing wider. "And we think your an excellent young lady. It's just...that BoBo is so very taken with you...I don't want him to be hurt."

"What do you mean, Mrs. Clown?"

Twinkletoes looked flustered, and Karyn couldn't help but grin. She'd wished that Jon and his family would become true clowns untill she chose to return them to normal, and it had worked. They thought that they'd always been like this.

"I mean...well...that I think BoBo has actual feelings for you, and I don't want him to be hurt. If he proposes to you, what will you say? Are you willing to accept his clownishness? Are you willing to raise a clown child? Would you be willing to convert to being a clown yourself?"

Karyn reached-out and touched Twinkletoes nose. The clown woman didn't seem to mind. Karyn felt around her nose...and saw that everything was attached!

Smileing, Twinkletoes reached up and squeezed her nose, produceing a loud "Honk! Honk!" sound, then she giggled.

They realy WERE CLOWNS! The make-up was real! They huge feet were real! She'd wished that Jon and his family were "Real" clowns...and now they were!

Twinkletoes sipped her coffee (she mixed her cup with seltzer water) and waited for an answer.

"I'm...not sure. I...I like Jo...uh, BoBo very much. But I'm...not sure..."

"Well please make a decision soon, Karyn. If you're willing to convert then we can help you pick a new face and hair color, then get you some proper training. You're funny enough...for a human. But to be a REAL clown you have to be willing and able to see the humor if everything."

"I'll think about it, maam."

Karyn went upstairs (noticing how colorful everything was. How all the pictures were either clown paintings or circus posters.) and walked into "BoBo's" room.

Jon was naked. His skin was now bright white, his feet were several sizes larger than they'd been, and he had a comical potbelly. She noted that his pubic hairs were the same color as the hair on his head.

Jon turned towards her and reacted with comical over correctness. He cried out and made a wild leep behind his bed, then poked his head over the edge and asked "Gee, Karyn! Knock much?"

She laughed and walked in, handing him a robe that was striped like a circus tent. He took it and walked out from behind the bed, looking at her with his permanently painted-on smile.

This was all so weird. Funny and interesting, but also weird.

"I was talking to your mother, Bobo."

Bobo rolled his eyes and moaned "I told her not to do that! She's worried that I'm going to fall in love with you instead of some nice young girl-clown, and that's...that's just crazy. And not crazy in the good, funny way."

"Is it realy crazy? Don't you have...feelings for me?"

Bobo wasn't sure what to say. As Jon he'd always had "Feelings" for Karyn, and as Bobo he was no different. Infact, as Bobo he loved this plain, colorless human girl with all his hart. In his eyes she wasn't just a human...she was the most beautiful, perfect person in the world. He wasnted to tell her how he felt, but he knew she'd never accept him. A clown as a fried? Many humans were willing to deal with that. But a clown as a lover...maybe even a husband?

It was impossible. He'd never have a chance with her.

Which is why he almost screamed when his perfect human angel leaned over...and kissed him on his giant red nose.

"Because Bobo...I've kind of got feelings for you. You're cute and very funny, and I like your family. I think..."

"Don't...don't say it if it isn't true, Karyn. I can take a joke as well as the next fellow...but even a clowns heart can break."

Looking at Bobo and seeing Jon, Karyn kissed him full on the lips.

"I've got to go home, Bobo. I'll see you tomorrow at school."
