"Plus 17 years!"
Jon, or rather Jan's, body grew, as Jan got older, and clothes appeared on her body. Now, instead of a baby being held by Joan, there was a teenage Jan standing there. Jan's mother got older too, so it was almost the same as before, except that Jan was a girl.
And except the teenage girl collapsed and cried, then started crawling around like a baby.
Of course, since Jon/Jan keeps her own mind when she's aged within earshot, and she started out with a baby mind, she kept her baby mind, but that was easy for Karyn to fix. "I wish that Jan has her mind from when she was Jon. I also wish Joan would go away and leave us alone for a while."
Jan got up and looked herself over. Unlike the original change, it was very obvious what had changed. "Karyn! What did you do to me? I'm a girl!"
"Yeah, I'm sorry about that, Jan. I went back a little too far, then I decided to go back a little more and watch you being conceived. It seems that if you're conceived a little differently you're a girl."
"Change me back! You have the stone, you can make a wish."
"Oh, come on. It's an opportunity, Jan. You can see what it's like to be a girl now. It's no worse than being eleven."
"But I didn't want to be eleven either."
"Right, Jan, but we were doing tests."
"They were supposed to be brief tests!"
"But it's a good chance for longer tests. Let me do one more. Okay?"
Jan thought. Karyn wouldn't hurt her. Not really, and certainly not permanently. Besides, she was asking. "Okay, Karyn. I trust you not to go too far."
"Okay. I wish that I could change Jan's sex just like I can change her age--by saying so and willing it. I also wish that while Jan is female she will naturally act like the girl she's supposed to be unless she deliberately does something else. Finally, I wish that until I say otherwise, Jan can't make any wishes which change her sex or make her less female. Is that too far?" Karyn handed the stone back to Jan.
"I don't know," said Jan.
"By the way," said Karyn. "Want to go to the mall to shop for some clothes?"
"Oh, sure! They have lots of dresses I..." Then Jan realized what she was saying. "Wait a minute..."
"See, it worked. While you're Jan you naturally act like Jan. Jan, tell me how you use a tampon."
"I don't know why you're asking but you remove the wrapper and...." Jan went on to explain, until she was finished, when she added, "Karyn, that's weird. I shouldn't know something like that. But I answered that without even thinking."
"You have to in order to live as Jan for a while. I've sometimes wondered what it would be like if my friend was a girl instead of a guy. Maybe I can find out...."
