Karyn's eyes went wide as she watched Jon lose even more years. Except this time it wasn't because of her. It was because Jon's mother unknowingly made a wish with the stone.
Joan stood up in shock, staring at her 3-year old son, who just a moment ago was eight. "What? What happened?" She ran over to Jon and knelt down next to him. "Jon. Honey. Are you okay? Say something."
"I wanna cookie!" he excitedly said, acting like a 3-year old.
"Don't panic, Joan," Karyn said. "I can fix this."
"You know what happened?"
"It's that stone you're holding," Karyn said, pointing at it.
"What about it?"
"It's a wishing stone. You made a wish and it came true."
"That's ridiculous. Wishes don't come true and there's no such thing as a wishing stone."
"You wished for Jon to be three and now he is," Karyn explained.
It was impossible, it had to be. But Jon was three now, just like she wanted. Well, she didn't really want him to be three, at least not permanently. It was just a fleeting desire. How was she supposed to know that it would come true?
"How can you fix this?" Joan asked.
