Karyn's aunt Beth offered "How about Patrick's? I have heard it is supposed to be good. It is a family dinning, but a step or two above a Denny's."
"Sure. Why not?" Karyn spoke for the girls.
Patrick's turned out to be a bit busy. After about a fifteen minute wait the four were seated.
"I am sorry about the wait, but we are running short handed tonight." There waitress said as she handed them menus. "Can I get you something to drink?"
The waitresses comment about being short handed was all too true. While the food was good, it took them over two hours to get out of the restaurant.
It was therefore nearly eleven when they entered their home town.
"I think it would be best if we just dropped you off at your house, Jennifer." Karyn's mom said.
"Can't she come to our house, Mom?" Karyn asked, remembering her wish.
"Karyn it is late. It doesn't make sense for Jennifer to come to our house and then walk twenty minutes home when we almost drive right by her house."
Jennifer, not remembering the wish, looked at Karyn, wondering what her friend was up to.
Karyn tried to send Jennifer silent messages about why she wanted Jennifer to come to her house first, but Jennifer was too tired to pick up on it.
"It's okay Karyn. I'll see you tomorrow after church." Then, remembering the luncheon she added, "Well, after we finish serving at the monthly church luncheon."
"You sure Jennifer?!" Karyn asked.
"Yes. It will be fine." Jennifer said, wondering if the lack of sleep was affecting Karyn.
"Okay, if you are sure." Karyn said.
"I'm sure." Jennifer said.
Jennifer thanked Karyn's mom for the ride and dinner. She then waved from the front porch after opening the door.
Locking the door behind her, Jennifer, now more asleep than awake herself, headed off to bed.
Morning would come soon enough.
