Ronald strolled down the hall and into his Chemistry classroom. It was his next class period, to be sure, but he also shared it with three of the students on his list; three of his potential new girlfriends. Ronald smiled at that thought, his hand resting on the stone as he stepped into the classroom.
He looked around, eager to spy the lovely ladies his wish created, and quickly found Randy... exactly as he was before. A tall, lean young man the same age as Ron, with dark brown skin and closely shorn hair. He was chatting with another athletic type, blissfully unaware of the wish Ronald had just made concerning him. And, more importantly to Ronald, seemingly unaffected.
Ronald frowned. That can't be right. He almost pulled the wishing stone out of his pocket just so he could assure his wish did indeed work. But no, there were too many people about. Too many eyes, and while he could wish for people to ignore him, that would start inviting complications. And, knowing his luck, that was the last thing he needed.
So instead Ronald took a seat near the front. To his right, he spied Leonard Drullers, just as unaffected-- the same fat, heavily bespectacled nerd he always was. Ronald ground his teeth in frustration, but kept quiet and let class start as normal.
Class proceeded normally, with the teacher droning on about the previous day's homework and the day's experiment. The only real eventful thing was the appearance of Karyn Black, who came to class unusually late, looking flustered and out of breath as she did. Ronald wondered if that might be the work of his wish, but no- other than her tardiness and slight look of frustration, Karyn too was the same as before. Though Ronald wondered how much the wish would affect her anyway. With that blond hair and a bust to rival Sarah, it would be hard for him to think of any improvements.
"Uh, Ron, was it?" says a voice behind Ronald, breaking him from his reverie. Ronald snaps to attention, realizing that the class has broken up to choose lab partners-seems the teacher is mixing up the pairings again. Turning around, Ronald finds Randy Goodman looking expectantly at him.
"Um... yes, that's me," Ronald said. This had to be the work of his wish. Randy was an alright guy, but he'd never gone out of his way to talk to Ronald before.
"Seems like we need to pick new partners. Mind if we pair up?" Randy asked. Something looked wrong about the jock, something it took Ronald a minute to place. His hair, Ronald realized. Normally Randy's hair was so short it was nearly shaven. Now it was visibly longer- still short, but long enough to frame Randy's head with his natural dark curls.
"Uh, yeah," Ronald said, trying to contain his excitement. He offered the jock a hand. "You're Randy, right?"
The jock took the offered hand. His grip was firm, though not as strong as Ronald would have expected. "Yeah," he said. As he pulled his hands back, Ronald saw the jock's hands had changed too, now sporting short, rounded nails, each painted a pale, glossy pink. "Should we get started?"
Ronald smiled wide. Oh, but we already have, he thought.
