(I decided to name him Ronald this time.)
Then, the vision of his perfect girl smiling as she strode towards him faded, and he realized it had been a daydream brought on by excitement. Of course, the right candidate would not just run into him so coincidentally. He would have to put in the leg work.
The Romeo with a rock glanced down the crowded hall, wondering where to start his search. It may take hours, maybe days, but he felt sure he would find someone whose personality would make for his ideal girlfriend. He just needed to decide what personality traits to focus on.
"C'mon, Ronald, you can do this," he muttered to himself. "You know what you want, don't you? Someone nice, caring, considerate. It would also help if she was sometimes underestimated and unappreciated, and she knows what it's like to be marginalized. On a positive note, she could be smart, imaginative, and fun. Active, energetic, optimistic, sensitive. Let's not forget unconventional, spontanious, adventurous "
He spent the next few minutes coming up with an exhaustive list that he could barely remember. "Ugh, I wish I'd written this down."
Instantly, Ronald found himself holding a piece of paper with everything he had come up with printed neatly in pencil. Eyeing the long list numbered from one to fifty-seven, he sighed. "Maybe I'm being a bit too picky. What person could possibly be all of these? Then again, perhaps she doesn't have to be."
Slowly, a smile returned to his face. With the rock, he could probably save himself a whole lot of trouble. "I got it. I wish that I had a list of names of the students in this school whose personalities contain a combination of at least ten of the things I've listed out so far."
In a flash, he had what he wished for. The paper drooped nearly to the floor, and the names were written very small. "Hm, kind of long. I'll keep this as a backup. I wish I had another list of people from this first list who have at least twenty of these traits."
Now, Ronald had a second piece of paper. Thankfully, this list was smaller.
"Still could use some trimming down. I wish I had another list of the people from the second list who have at least thirty of these traits." FLASH "Hm, now it's kind of small. Let's go for twenty five."
A few more wishes later, Ronald had a list that filled one side of a single sheet of regular sized paper. Finally, he could peruse the results. Some of the names turned out to be quite surprising.
