Mikey Madison threw the remnants of his sack lunch away, heading out the door towards the playground

Michelle blinked, wondering why the taste of a ham sandwich lingered in her mouth. She licked the inside of her mouth, running her tongue stud along the inside of her teeth. When the hell did she eat a ham sandwich? She hated ham, or pork in general for that matter.
"Still lurking about, I see?" came a joking voice from down the hall. Looking up, Michelle spotted Karyn Black, just about her only friend in the entire high school, walking towards her with the usual grin. Karyn and Michelle had been friends since elementary school, though even back then they had been vastly different. As they grew older, the two girl's disparities only grew, even as they remained the best of friends. Karyn had blossomed into the epitome of a young woman, I blonde bombshell that was smart, social, and athletic. Michelle, on the other hand, was a rebel through and through. At ten she had dyed her hair red, then a year later blue, and kept switching back and forth until a year ago she had settled on both, dying the left side blue and the right side scarlet. By now she had twelve different piercings, most in her ears but one through her tongue, another on her left eyebrow, and one through the bridge of her nose. Michelle wasn't as extravagant as those goth idiots, but she did tend towards a more grungy look, with a ripped t shirt and baggy pants and a spiked bracelet or two.
"I'm not lurking," Michelle said defiantly, "I am merely standing here, is that a crime?"
"You certainly make it look like one. Oh, so I just passed Sarah in the hallway. I swear we were about to start tearing each other to shreds."
"You should have, that bitch has it coming. And besides," She added with a sly grin, "I could use some company in detention."
Karyn rolled her eyes, "Right, maybe next time. Now if you'll excuse me, some of us actually attend our classes..."
"Fine, fine, see you later." The two girls parted ways, and Michelle set off down the hall, having already forgotten about that odd feeling she had a few moments ago.
