"Hey, watch where you're ... oh, sorry, I ... hey!" Karyn said, before the cloaked figure grabbed her head with his lanky hand.
"You know about the Jewel of Cusco," he whispered. "The magic stone that grants wishes."
"What are you talking about?" Karyn asked, feeling afraid for her life. Who was this creepy guy and what did he want?
The figure clutched her head further. "He took the memory from you. But you were changed by it," he whispered. "The knowledge is there ... deep, deep ... deep within you." He clutched her head even more. "Nothing is ever truly lost."
"Stop it! You're hurting me!" Karyn yelled. Then suddenly, memories flashed before her eyes. But it was all out of context. There was a boy she didn't know. And a glowing stone. And something about red hair? A name kept appearing in her mind. Jon, Jon, Jon ... Jon? Who was Jon?
"There it is," the figure whispered. Then he let go of Karyn's head.
She collapsed to the ground, dropping her comic book. But when she looked back up, the cloaked figure was gone.
She still remembered what she saw when he was touching her, but none of it made any sense. It was like they were someone else's memories. But she knew she needed to find this Jon person, whoever he was. She felt that it was of the utmost importance.
