Chaos. That was a good word to describe it. Nobody would have ever been able to predict how significant a change footwear would be, but it was huge. Suddenly, in the blink of an eye, every woman in town realized that their footwear had been swapped with men's footwear. Women wore loafers, sneakers, flip flops, nothing feminine at all.
At the same time they realized that every man around them was wearing shoes that formerly would have belonged to them! Men wearing heels, men wearing flats, men wearing Mary-Janes. The women were dumbfounded.
Of course, when they tried to address the situation, the men laughed them off. Had all the women in town gone crazy? Or had they finally come around to the men's frame of mind? Sure, some of the men thought it was weird that women would consider wearing men's shoes, a strange form of crossdressing, but since it was just footwear, most of them just dismissed any misgivings they might have. It wasn't as if the women were trying to wear boxer shorts, or that they were asking men to wear women's clothes, for heaven's sake.
The women in town, however, didn't take it so lightly. Wives began to raid their husband's closets, only to be dismayed to discover that their formerly dainty feet had grown to men's former sizes. The disgust they felt staring at their newly hairy toes and large calloused feet was only matched by the disgust they felt for their husbands, prancing around in their tiny, cute feet that didn't match their bodies at all.
For most women it quickly proved too much. Packing a bag or two, they rushed out of their homes, unsure of where they were going, but sure they didn't want to stay behind until they figured things out. A mad rush on hotel rooms occurred. Every apartment in town was rented out. Women began to move in with each other, three, four to a bed in order to compensate for the event.
Jon, back home, watched all of this on the television. Realizing what a huge mistake he had made, decided that the only way to fix it was to use the rock again. He grabbed the talisman and said, "I wish..."
