... and Salim said, "You two. Get over there with Jane. If you don't, I can shoot her right now."
Jon and Karyn had no choice but to obey and walked towards Jane. Then Jon said "Hold it, I need to give this back." Salim looked at Jonnie suspiciously, but she just had a harmless stone. Jane took the stone from Jon then put her hand back against the wall, the stone pressed between her palm and the wall. Jon whispered "We have one chance. Please, Mom, help us. You can wish we never married Ali...."
Jane said "I wish that me and Jon never married or even met Ali."
Thing might have changed, but it was impossible to tell. The worst part of it was that Salim still had a gun pointed at the three females. Which was Jane's mistake. Because she had spoken the wish loud enough for Salim to hear it, Salim's memory wasn't changed. He still thought that Jon and Jane were runaway ex-wives of Ali.
Salim herded them into another empty room at gunpoint. Then he waited there with him.
"Where is Ali?" he said.
"Maybe he's asleep," replied Jon.
"How dare you joke about my good friend?" replied Salim, waving the gun. "We are going to wait here for him, and then you're going back to our country."
After some time waiting, Salim said "I am going to find Ali. You are not going to leave." He slammed the door shut and Jon could hear some mechanism on the door click. When Jon tried the door, it wouldn't open.
Soon Jon could hear a male scream. Then Salim was yelling, "Wake up, wake up!" This continued for a few minutes. Finally, Salim opened the door again, gun in hand. "What have you done to my friend Ali?
"Nothing!" replied Jon. "They all just fell asleep."
"Impossible! Nobody could fall asleep like that, and not wake up. You must have drugged them."
"How could I possibly drug them?"
"This is a doctor's office," replied Salim. "There are lots of drugs around."
But all three females were looking at the clock. The half hour should be over again. It should be possible to make another wish. "I wish," said Jane, "that I was home with Jon and Karyn and nobody even remembered us having anything to do with Ali." Jane blinked. Her eyes shut briefly and when she opened them, she was once again standing in her own house with Jon and Karyn.
Then she gave the stone to Jon. Jon and Karyn had a wish each to make, and then everyone would have to wait another half hour. And they might be single again, but there were still problems to fix. For one thing, Jon was still a girl, and he and his mother were still pregnant, possibly with identical babies. He needed to fix it, but he needed to think about the wish first. Eventually, he decided what he had to do. "I wish...."
