"... I wish that I would trade bodies with my mother again."
Of course, nothing happened. Wishes weren't reversible.
"Jon," said Jon (in Jane's body), what exactly was the wish you made?"
Jane (in Jon's body) didn't reply immediately. She was imagining the sorts of things she could do with the rock. Finally she explained, "I said, 'I wish I could trade places with Jon, so he could have some of my responsibilities.'"
"Oh" said Jon. "I wish that Mom's wish to trade places with me and give me some of her responsibilities, would end after I had experienced the responsibilities, and in fact ends right now."
And instantly they were back in their own bodies.
Unfortunately for Jon, they were back in their own bodies, but the bodies kept the same clothing--and possessions--and the stone. So Jon's mom Jane was now holding the stone.
"Mom, can I please have my stone back?" asked Jon.
"Well," said Jane, "it is yours." She didn't give it back, though.
"Uhh, Mom? You wouldn't be setting a good example for me by keeping my stone, right?"
"No, I wouldn't" she said. "I'm glad the swap is over, but there are other things I've been thinking about wishing for. Just let me make this one wish and you can take it back. I wish...."
