"What?" replied Jen. "Go shopping?"
"You guessed!" replied Karyn. "You have a magic stone. We can get anything we want."
"Yeah," replied Jen, "but I don't really want to go shopping."
"Geez," said Karyn, "you can be such a dyke at times." She was probably the only person who could get away with calling Jen that.
"Not wanting to go shopping has nothing to do with..."
"Come on, Jen. It'll be fun!"
Jen sighed. "All right. I wish Karyn recently won a McDonald's game contest and got a lot of money, some of which she is using to go shopping with today. I wish I also had a good amount of money inherited from Grandpa. Do you also want me to teleport to the mall?"
"If I wanted that, Jen, I'd just ask you to wish up a catalog and shop by magic, instead of going outside to shop."
"Oh, good point."
At the mall, Karyn found some underwear, a blouse, several T-shirts, jeans, and an out of season winter jacket that was on sale for half price. Jen picked up two CDs, some earrings, and a package of bubble gum.
As they walked through the mall they met a friend of Jen's, named Joseph. "Hi, Jen," he said. "Here on a date?"
"I am not!" replied Jen. "Karyn's an old friend of mine from when we were girls. She just got back in town and we're going shopping. Karen, this is Joseph. Joseph, likewise."
"Fine. I don't understand how you can do that. She's hot, and the way you are, you've got to notice."
"I can be gay and still be friends with her the same way you can be friends with me."
"So Jen, why don't we go out together? I know, I know, I'm a guy, but I know you didn't tell your Mom and it'd make her be less suspicious."
"That's lame." She whispered to Karyn, "I have the magic stone now. That means I never need to worry about coming out to my parents again... I know that nothing will happen, because I won't let it."
"Huh?" asked Joseph. "Something about a magic stone?"
"Er, nothing," replied Jen. "Just girl talk." Whispering to Karyn, she said, "I think he heard too much. What should I do?"
