The weekend came a lot faster than he expected. Karen talked a bit about planning for prom, but he needed to find something to wear first. They talked about making some more wishes, trying it out for fun, for Jon didn't trust it, which was better than admitting his lack of imagination. Instead, they hung out more and more, and Jon enjoyed the time spent outside of school and by themselves.
His Mom loved that Karen was spending more time over at their house. Zoe seemed to final leave them be and Mom managed to keep Mikey out of their hair. So they spent the time just watching movies, cuddling and stuff. Nothing too crazy, or sexual, but Jon enjoyed the closeness. Maybe they'd get a chance to actual go on a date before prom.
And those thoughts of prom brought him right back to the mall, and to his present situation.
Jon stood outside of the shop, much like he had earlier in the week - except this time he had the certificate in his hands. His mom dropped him off, with instructions to call her when he was done, or to let her know that Karen was picking him up. Taking a deep breath, he summoned his courage and entered the store.
Once based the doorway, he caught sight of all the wonderful(?) dresses and accessories lining the wall. The shop looked much bigger on the inside than the out, as he could even see a salon attached. He wasn't sure if it was next door or not, but then again, he had been distracted by all dresses.
"Hi." Jon jumped at Lacy's sudden appearance. "I'm glad you could come." She gave him a wide smile of pearly whites. She looked amazing, and really
"Yeah, I'm not sure if this place is for me," Jon said. Everything looked great, except there weren't any suits or well...anything for guys.
"Relax, I know what its like to be a tomboy," Lacy said. She placed her hand on his shoulder and began to lead him further into the store. "We'll find you the perfect dress."
"But -"
"And we can start today with teaching you some basic beauty tips and skills. It'll definitely make your life a little easier on the day."
"But -"
"That's not to say that we won't give you a full spa treatment the day of prom - when is that?" Jon rattled off the date for her. "See, plenty of time to help you come out of your shell. That is what you want, right?"
"Yes, but -"
"Then relax, and trust me," Lacy said. She had led them to the salon, where another woman sat waiting for them. Jon couldn't help but relax. He felt some of the tension leave his body and even the resistance fade away. He did trust. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to just play along.
"So, what's your name?" She asked him. She motioned toward one of the chairs.
"Umm...Jon," he said, taking the seat.
"Jon? Oh my," she said. Her smile dropped a little bit, but not much. He knew this was going to happen, but she didn't freak out or anything. If anything, she looked a little sympathetic and comforting, like he could tell her anything. "Are you a boy?"
