There was still a Jon (in a manner of speaking), still a Karyn, and still a Sarah. But they were all living in a mystical land.
As Jon made his way through the forest, he looked up at the darkening sky. It was almost dusk.
He stopped at a large tree and took the opportunity to set his torch aflame. Nighttime in the forests were among the darkest in the land. The only thing darker were the caves to the north, which were dark no matter what time of day it was.
Jon looked down at his map and sighed. Usually he trusted Jay to give him genuine artifacts, but this time he felt as if he was on some sort of wild goose chase. Of course, part of that could have been due to the fact that a portion of the map was missing. He couldn't fault Jay for that ... unless Jay was the one that removed it. But Jay wasn't the dishonest type. He wouldn't lead Jon astray.
Now Princess Sarah ... she was someone who would lead Jon astray. Her and her husband-to-be Prince Steven from the kingdom of Farborro, a land to the south. As a point of fact, no one of royal blood should be completely trusted. At least, that was true from Jon's experience.
Jon looked at the map closely, moving his torch in to give himself more light. According to the map, he was close. Very close.
As he put the map away, he thought about all the danger he'd probably come up against. There were stories of ogres living in these woods, but what Jon was more afraid of was a run-in with Athena, the witch of the woods. Her anger towards trespassers was well-known. And he wouldn't want to get on her bad side.
Carefully and quietly (as possible), Jon continued through the forest.
