Instead J. J. saw that Clyde's arm was in the grasp of someone else's hand and that someone was Justin Werre.
"I would suggest that you watch your language around ladies, Clyde." Justin said, twisting Clyde's arm a bit and forcing him to back away from J. J. and Karyn.
"I agree, Justin." Another voice said, a voice belonging to Ryan Roberts. "Why don't you four do what the lady suggested and go find some rock to crawl back under, with all of the other slimy things that no one really wants to see." Ryan was holding two of Clyde's friends, one in each hand.
Just then the five minute warning bell rang.
"Looks like you are saved by the bell nerds." Clyde said as he and his three friends made a hasty exit. "You haven't seen the last of us." He added just before disappearing into the crowd.
"I hope that neither of you were hurt." Justin said, his eyes boring into J. J.'s as he spoke.
"I, ah " J. J. tried to talk, but words wouldn't come out.
Karyn, freed from Clyde's spell, grabbed J. J. by the arm and said. "Thank you two for helping us. We have to hurry or we will be late for class; right Jennifer?"
"I, ah " J. J. responded, allowing Karyn to drag him off.
"Mighty fine looking women." Ryan said to Justin, once the two turned the corner. "I have always liked blondes."
"Her hair was auburn." Justin said, before shaking himself and adding, "We had best be going to class two or we will be late."
"Right " Ryan said, laughing a bit at his friend, but knowing in his heart that he had it just as bad, but for the other girl.
