As Karen walked away from Jon and Spike she tried to sort things out in her head. Jon had wished for a magic sweatshirt and used it to jump them into Angel and Buffy. They were stuck in those bodies for an unspecified amount of time (until the sweatshirt "thought" that it had taught them a lesson). Now Spike had a wishing stone of his own, and he had used it to make Jon, who he thought was really Buffy, fall in love with him. Now he had used it to make Karen "go away."
At least Spike's wish probably hadn't erased Jon's mind. Jon still knew he was Jon, as far as Karen could tell. She was just a Jon who thought he was in love with Spike. Why would Spike do anything to make Jon think he was Buffy anyway, if he didn't know that the person in Buffy's body wasn't actually Buffy? There was still hope, then. As long as Jon was intact in some form Karen might be able to convince Jon to escape. Though with Jon horny over Spike she doubted that would be easy. What a twist this was, to have Jon drooling over Spike instead of her. Had it made him gay, she wondered? Or in this body was he straight? Or was it just Spike he was attracted to, and not men in general?
Karen slowed down, and then she realized she could stop. She realized something she hadn't before... Spike had just wished for Karen to go away. He hadn't wished for her to stay away. That meant she could probably go back if she wanted to. Rather than tip her hand, though, she decided it was better to go in more prepared. As long as Spike thought she was going to stay away Karen had a little bit of protection from Spike's wishes, and as long as Spike kept making careless wishes she had an upper hand in that way too.
Karen decided to find the other Scoobies. Maybe Willow or Tara or someone could help her... cast a spell or give her a charm or something to protect her against the stone's magic. If Spike hadn't gotten there first...
