"If we use the stone to get powers too... And information. I wish I knew what Jon was planning. Argh!"
"What is it?" asked Nicole.
"The evil bastard protected his own mind. Once he wished up his powers, he used his powers to protect himself. He can't defeat the stone, but the stone can't defeat him either."
"So what do we do then, Sarah?"
"The only thing we can do. I wish that Nicole, myself, and our families were magically protected from all kinds of mind-reading, mind control, remote viewing, remote listening, and any similar power. I also wish that Nicole and I have powers like Jon's, until I decide otherwise." Sarah looked around and said "Finally, I wish that anyone who's watching us from nearby will float up into the air five feet and stay there helpless until I decide to release them."
"Huh?" said Nicole. "Where did that come from?" But then Nicole caught something out of the corner of her eye. Biff, captain of the basketball team, was bobbing up and down in the air helplessly, like a balloon.
"You could have seen that if you wanted," said Sarah. "You have powers too, now! I looked around with my super-senses and I could tell Biff was hiding around Jon's house. And I can't read Jon's or Kevin's mind, but Jon didn't think of protecting Biff's. Jon didn't expect anyone to be here, but he forced Biff to guard his house anyway as revenge. Now if Biff doesn't obey Jon's every word he turns into a sexy cheerleader. And you know, I think that says it all about what Jon thinks about us.
Sarah said "Biff, when I snap my fingers, you will be okay and on the ground, but you'll forget that Nicole and I were here today. And you'll continue to not notice us here for the rest of the day." Then she snapped her fingers. Biff walked up to a bush, looked around as if to check that nobody was watching--without Sarah's and Nicole's presence even registering--and hid behind it.
Sarah looked around.
"Maybe I should go on that date," said Sarah. "Kevin might be there after all. He might want to get me in bed and dump me only after that. Not that I have any plans of having sex with him, but maybe I can get some information about Jon."
"Or we could just surprise Jon, fight him, and prevent him from taking over the world," said Nicole.
"But... Nicole, I don't know how the powers work. If it's like the mind control, we can't hurt each other. But maybe we can both hurt each other..."
Nicole suddenly reached out with super-speed for Sarah's cheek and pinched with all her strength. Sarah, surprised, couldn't react at even her own super-speed and got caught. "Ow!" she yelled. She looked at her cheek--an impossible action that became possible with super-senses--and saw the usual rapidly fading mark as if anyone pinched anyone else.
"I think we have an answer!" said Nicole. "When people with Jon's powers and defenses fight it's almost like two normal people fighting, only faster."
"You're right," said Sarah. "But god, I hate that. I've never fought anyone, Nicole. I don't know if I can even bring myself to do it, powers or no powers. Do you realize we're talking about killing someone with our bare hands? Do you think you can do it?"
"I don't know..." said Nicole. "I... yeah, I can't. So what do we do then?"
"Well, we..."
