Jon was about to speak when someone started pounding on the hotel door. Then, he heard a voice that could only be Zoe's shouting, "Jon, open up!"
"Where are my clothes?" Jon asked Karyn urgently.
"Uh, I wished our clothes were gone. Don't you remember?" Karyn reminded him.
"Great move!" Jon exclaimed.
"Well, at the time, it seemed like it might be fun," Karyn retorted.
"Jon, open up!" shouted Zoe, still pounding on the door.
"I can try but I doubt it'll work," said Karyn. "I wish we had our clothes back."
To the surprise of neither, their clothes remained stubbornly gone. "Here, give me that," Jon insisted, and Karyn did. "Be careful," she cautioned.
"I wish we each had some casual clothes our size, whatever's in fashion for college students these days," Jon stated, but again nothing happened.
"I wish we each had something to wear," Jon tried, but again the effect was zero.
"C'mon, Jon! If you haven't got your jollies by now, you're not gonna!" screeched Zoe's voice above the pounding.
"Sssh, we're trying to find some clothes," Jon stated quietly through the door.
"That's OK. I'm not wearing much of anything either. Open the door, or mom's gonna come after you, and you'd rather have me than her."
Karyn tried slipping under the covers only to have them vanish. "We'll have to figure this out later," she said. "Maybe I can restate my wish."
"Oh good grief," said Jon, then he opened the door a crack and two naked people scampered in. One was Zoe, dressed mostly in Goth makeup. The other was Julian, dressed essentially the same.
"Why did you tell mom you couldn't make it to the reunion, and then show up anyway?" Zoe asked. It seemed to Jon she'd grown a lot in the four years time since he'd supposedly seen her: somewhat up but especially out. Julian stood behind her, massaging her shoulders and points south.
"Uh, it was a spur-of-the-moment thing," Jon explained vaguely, then suddenly he realized that the memories he'd wished for were his own. His mom, Zoe, and others might know more about this so-called reunion than he did. He'd refused the invitation, after all. "Why is the reunion here, anyway?" he asked Zoe.
"Well, you know how it is. After the accident dad went off with that new boyfriend he found, and that lesbian who was working in mom's office moved in with us. Then the four of them started having orgies, then Uncle Biff's extended family moved in next door, then Aunt Marge and Aunt Lisa bought a condo a half a mile away. Plus, people are always visiting from out of town. It still seems kinda strange. Of course, you wouldn't know anything about any of that, would you?"
"Uh, no; I was away at college," Jon stated without checking the facts. That would've been his answer in any case. "So, what's mom so worked up about?"
"Believe me, that's not a question you want to ask. She is upset with you though, for showing up unannounced and for whatever crime you pulled to pay for this room."
"I've told both you and mom several times where I get money from," Jon insisted. "I'm just really lucky at finding gold nuggets."
"Right, like that big one that busted the wheelbarrow," Zoe reminded him. "Mom doesn't buy that story one bit. She keeps waitin' for the cops to pick you up for something."
"How did you get in here if you're not twenty-one?" Jon confronted Zoe to change the subject.
"Oh, 'cause we're at least eighteen, and we're part of an adult group, and our parents signed a release," Zoe explained of herself and Julian
"Jon, is Zoe in there?" came Joseph's voice through the door.
"Julian, have you seen Dale?" came Sandy's voice.
"Zoe, where's Uncle Biff?" asked someone with the voice of Jon's dad but higher pitched.
"Karyn, think of something fast," Jon urged.
"So, how you like havin' a pussy?" Julian asked Jon.
"Why? This might be interesting for a couple of days," Karyn replied.
"This is crazy, talking through walls," Zoe remarked, then she opened not only the hall door but both connecting doors as well.
