And so Jon had to go to school as a "boy" with a vagina--no, as a "boy" who as far as everyone knew had always had one.
The biggest change, at least at the start, wasn't anything anyone said or did. It was Jon feeling self-conscious. He just knew that people were staring at him, even though he really couldn't tell. Even though, realistically, every class was the same as normal.
Well, except for one thing. In Driver's Ed, he had to get out his license. When he looked at it, he license was exactly as it was before, with one exception: it listed him as female, despite the picture itself having no change at all.
Then it came time for gym class. Jon wasn't sure where to go, but when he found his locker still had his normal guy's gym shorts, he went to the male changing room. It seemed like the right decision, since nobody objected. Besides, he could put the shorts on over his underwear--it wasn't as if head to show his vagina to anyone.
"No, really!" said his friend Joseph's voice.
"I don't believe it," replied a strange teenage boy's voice. Jon looked and there was a new guy he had never met before.
"Hi," said the boy. "I'm Jeff."
"Are you new here?" asked Jon.
"Yes, I am! My family just moved into the area this week. This is my first day. I still don't know anyone. And some of the ideas people have here are really weird. You're Jon, right? Did you know they tried to tell me you're really a girl between the legs?"
"Well, uh, they do say that," replied Jon. "The truth is...."
