The picture was of Jon. Well, in fact it was Jon wearing a tuxedo, but it was basically Jon. Jon felt his body change as he returned to normal.
"Whew," he said. "I'm not pregnant any more."
"It looks like it worked," said Karyn. "We just... oh, damn! Jon, what did I do? "
"You just changed me back to normal! This is just clothes... isn't it?"
"Yes, it's just clothes," said Karyn. "That isn't the problem."
"Then what is?"
"The baby!"
"But you fixed that..." said Jon. "Didn't you?"
"I fixed it, Jon," said Karyn. "But I wasn't thinking when I did it. Look, suppose you wish for... well, let's say you wished that there was someone to mow your lawn. So magically, a person with a lawnmower materializes. Are you following me?"
"Sure," replied Jon.
"And once they mow your lawn you get out a gun and shoot them."
Jon blinked. "Huh? You can't do that. If you wanted to do that, you wish for a lawnmower driven by a robot, or you wish for a fungus that kills long grass, or something else you can get rid of. Not a person. If you wish for a person and you shoot them, it's murder."
Karyn nodded. "It doesn't matter if you created them. You're not God, it's wrong to just kill them."
"I still don't get it," said Jon. "Why so morbid? I'm not going to..."
"I already did!" said Karyn. "The baby. You were going to give birth in a few hours and I used magic to get rid of it. It doesn't matter what you think of abortion, because it's not abortion when you're 9 months pregnant and you're going to give birth in a few hours. Killing it before birth is as bad as letting you give birth and killing it afterwards."
"So you're a murderer?" asked Jon skeptically. "Look, you're not going to get reported to the police and nobody's worse off than they were yesterday. Besides, there's nothing we can do about it."
"Yes, there is," said Karyn. "I can wish it back. We didn't use a wish to get rid of it, we used the pictures. The pictures don't prevent further transformations, so we can wish it back."
"Now just wait a minute!" exclaimed Jon.
"We can't do that to Jon," said Emily.
"I know, Emily," replied Karyn. "I wasn't just going to do this without doing this right. Jon, you're the mother. Tell me what we should do."
