In the main beauty shop, Jon sat in one of the styling stations and Shane began to work on his hair.
"You have nice hair Jennifer." Shane said, emphasizing the female name she had given Jon.
When Jon didn't respond, Shane said, "Come on Jennifer, you need to work on pretending to be a girl named Jennifer. While you are thinking about what you should do different, pretend you are a girl named Jennifer, Okay?"
"Yes, Miss Shane." Said Jon who was now pretending to be a girl named Jennifer.
"You have nice hair Jennifer." Shane said once more.
"Thank you." Jon/Jennifer said.
"You should wash and condition each day. We have some new herbal shampoo and conditioner which is specifically made for teenage girls, maybe you should try using them."
"That sounds like a good idea, what are they?"
Shane continued to talk to Jon/Jennifer as if he was a girl named Jennifer; and Jon continued to act and react as if he was a girl named Jennifer.
At the same time, most of Jon's mind was on what he should do to appear more like a normal girl. As he thought and worked out in his mind what he needed to do, his action and reaction to Miss Shane became more like a normal teenage girl.
Shane marveled at how malleable Jon was. As she started his make-up, carefully explaining each step of the way, it was hard for her to think of him as anything but a normal teenage girl.
When she was done, Shane asked the teen, "What do you think, Jennifer?"
"I love the style, Miss Shane." Jennifer/Jon said. "I just wish my hair was longer."
"I'd like it if your hair was longer as well." Shane said. "You should consider letting it grow longer."
"I think I will." Jennifer/Jon replied.
Glancing at the clock on the wall, Shane asked, "What time do you have to get home, Jennifer?"
"Not too late, but I told Mother that it would be well after dinner."
"Then what were you going to do about dinner?" Shane asked.
"I was going to grab a burger or something on the way home." Jennifer/Jon said.
"Girls should have a better meal than that." Shane said, forgetting that it was Jon not Jennifer that she was speaking to. "Why don't you get dressed, Jennifer, and I'll treat for dinner, since I kept you so late."
"You don't have to do that Miss Shane."
"I know I don't have to do that, Jennifer, but I want to. Besides, you look so pretty, you should want to show off."
"Okay, Miss Shane. I'll hurry and get ready." Jennifer/Jon said, with Jennifer firmly in control.
