The timer dings, and Janet waits for Shane to finish setting her new customer, and placing her under the dryer. Sitting down in Shane's station, Shane says to Janet. "Another updo. That makes three today". Seems like everyone wants them done today".
(Back at the Mall) "Karyn, have you noticed that the guy's are drooling over you?"
"Yes, and it feels like my IQ dropped 30 points from the drools"
"I wouldn't have thought longer hair and a bigger You know what's would make that much difference, but for you, I like the long look.
"Thanks Jon", she smiles with a rhetorical quip. "You ready?"
"Been there. Lets go".
Jon walks out the mall and heads west towards the down town area.
"Where are we going" Karyn asks.
I don't know, I just felt like walking this way.
(Back at the salon) Shane finishes unwrapping Janet's hair, and gives it a quick dusting of hair spray, then starts to tease her hair into a massive ball of fuzz, spraying every so often as she does so. Finishing the back-combing, Shane starts smoothing Janet's hair into a beautifully full twist in the back pins, and smoothes the second side forming the hair up. She then starts forming barrel curls and places them randomly over her head.
(On the Street) "Jon, isn't that you mom's car?" Karyn asks?
"Yes. I think she has an appointment with Miss Shane. Let's stop and see her"
"Ok", Karyn smiles having a sudden urge to get her hair done.
Jon, glances at the window on his way in and sees the wig's on display along with a sign that says "Shampoo girl wanted"
Walking in the door, Jon and Karyn are greeted by Casey. Janet and Shane look to see who is walking in, and Janet smiles to see her son with Karyn. Jon sees his mother with her and continues to walk over to her as Karyn stops to talk to Casey.
"Hi, Casey" Karyn beams. "Does Shane have any openings?"
"Sorry! She is booked for today. Seems to be that everyone wants to get their hair done up for some strange reason. How about tomorrow after school?"
"Sure if that is the earliest you can fit me in?"
"Lets check", Casey and Karyn walk over to Shane's station.
(meanwhile) "Mom, you hair is so "
"Beautiful.", Janet supplies for her son.
"It's just, I have never seen your hair done up that way".
"Do you like it?" Janet asks as the two girls walk their way.
"Miss Shane, would it be possible to do Karyn's hair?"
"Sorry", Shane apologizes, "but without a shampoo girl, I just don't have time today."
"I'll do it", Jon pipes up.
Everyone stops and looks at Jon in wonder. "What?" his mother says.
"I'll shampoo Karyn's hair. There is a sign in the window that says that there is a Job opening"
Janet was flabbergasted, along with everyone else. "It will give me something to do", Jon continued, that is if you wouldn't mind me working here".
"I wouldn't mind it", Shane says. "But you will have to present a clean and attractive image to our customers." Shane explains. "That means that you will have to be have your hair and nails clean and well groomed as well as that you will have to wear one of the uniforms."
"That would be fine, miss Shane." Jon says without even thinking about it.
"Casey, would you take Jon back to get changed. So he can start his new job", Shane smiles at Jon.
Casey and Jon walk to the back of the salon. "Who would ever" Janet says.
"He just want's to get his hands on my hair" Karyn smiles at Janet.
"I just hope he minds his manners", Janet worries, considering her son's antics as of late. "I wish he would just forget all about his grandfathers death, and do what you say" she says to Shane.
