"Wouldn't have what, Mom?" Joan asked.
"Wouldn't have run away from home and not come back until you were pregnant and needed my help..."
Jon didn't remember any such thing, but it seemed as if that was the new reality. He had to do something about it... he was getting into worse and worse problems. Karyn was a baby, he was a teenage runaway who got pregnant god knows how....
But he was Karyn's mother, and he didn't ever want that to change.
"I wish," said Jon with stone in hand, "that Karyn was teenage again, that I'm still her mother and she still thinks of me as her mother, that she remembers both her old and new life, and also that I don't get any older than I am now for this to happen."
Jon couldn't think of any way to make Karyn grow up, to make Jon stay her mother, and for Jon to not age, but he was sure the stone would figure out a way. And then the wish came true....
