Jon began to yap excitedly. Hey! Karyn shouted in his mind. Calm down, will ya. This isn't as bad as it seems. I mean, think about it. If I hadn't of swallowed it, one of us would have to keep carrying it around in their mouth, right? It's not like we could put it in our pocket or anything. At least this way, we can't lose it.
Jon looked at her skeptically.
Besides, I don't know what your problem is, anyway, she continued. I'm the one that has to pass the damned thing later. And let me tell you, that's an experience I'm not looking forward to.
Just then, the truck they were riding in came to a stop. The back opened and the two of them were unloaded into a cage together. Jon looked around nervously, before turning back to Karyn with a low whine.
Yeah, she agreed. It's a little scary, but I think we'll be alright. My cousin works here, and she told me that any animals that they bring in are kept for at least a week before they do anything with them. That way, if they have owners, they have time to come and claim them. We're only gonna be dogs for about another ten hours or so. She smiled a Cocker Spaniel smile. I imagine the keepers are in for a shock when they find us in here later, huh?
Jon gave her an upset look.
Karyn shrugged and went over and lay down in the corner. Whatever. Nothing else we can do about it now, anyway. Might as well relax. At least, they put us in the same cage.
Jon watched her as she put her head down. With a sigh, he went over and laid down next to her.
