Karyn was interrupted in mid-sentence as her bedroom door suddenly swung open, narrowly missing her. It was Karyn's mother.

"Karyn?!" Her mother exclaimed, then without hesitation threw her arms around Karyn. "I was so worried about you." She said with tears in her eyes.

"Mom!" Karyn said, suprised, "Shouldn't you be at work?"

"I couldn't work after what happened."

"Happened?"

Her mother broke out of the hug and looked at Karyn. "You don't remember? Yesterday we got a call from your school that something had happened to you. We went and saw you. It was you, but it wasn't. There was this statue that looked like you and they said that it was you. I didn't believe them at first, but then you never came home, and I was so worried." Karyn's mother embraced her in another hug.

Jon stood and watched uncomfortably, unsure what he should do.

Karyn shot him a questioning look over her mother's shoulder. She mouthed the words "Why didn't you say something about this?"

He shurgged, and mouthed back, "I forgot."

Karyn rolled her eyes. She had to do something about this, gripping the stone in her hand she made a hasty wish. "I wish that.. um...everyone thought it was Lisa that turned to stone and not me," She said, naming one of Sarah's cheerleader friends, "except me, Jon and Sarah," she added hastily. She didn't want to risk the stone screwing with her own memories.

The stone grew warm, and Karyn's mother suddenly released her daughter. She looked around, confused. Then her eyes fell back on Karyn. "Why aren't you in school?" She asked, then her eyes went wide. "Why aren't I at work!" She glanced at her watch. "I have to get going, and you two had better get to school. You're nearly an hour late." With that she rushed out of the room.

"Well, I guess that's taken care of. Lisa's in for a surprise though. Why'd you say her name?"

Karyn shrugged. "I dunno, I don't like her any more than I like Sarah, and I needed a name."

Jon smiled, "I can't argue with that. She's in for a suprise though, suddenly thinking she had been changed to stone."

"Hell, I wish she really could spend a day made of stone, might do her some good."

"Karyn!" Jon shouted, too late to stop the wish.

"Oops." Karyn said, looking down at the rapidly cooling stone in her hand. She waved her hand dismissivly, "Don't worry about it, there's a built in out. She spends the day as a stone, big deal. I'm stone permenatly."

"Yes, and it was another accidental wish that got you that way. You need to be more careful of what you say. Maybe I should hold the stone."

"What makes you think you won't screw up?" Karyn asked.

"I can't make wishes anymore, remember?"

"Right. Here take it." Karyn tossed him the stone. "Now lets get out and have that fun, before we're interrupted again."

"Sounds good." Jon said as they headed out. "We just need to decide what to do."
