"Nothing," said Jon's mother, and closed the door again. She knew how to fix it this time... "I wish that that last wish worked the way I meant it instead of the way the stone granted it. Now I wish I knew if that wish did what I wanted."
It did! Jon was like Jen in the way she meant--popular, friends with Karyn, things like that, not like Jen because he changed sex. They were both a little less popular than before, but it was no worse than Jon's original state. After all, wishes can be reinterpreted. Saying "I wish that happened the way I meant it" is a reinterpretation, so it always works.
Jon's mother opened the door one final time. The room still had two beds in it, and neither had any pink pillows; it would be harder for the twins to be similar if Jen was too girly. All three teens were sitting on the same bed, Jon and Jen close to each other and Karyn a little farther away.
Jon's mother said "Jon... Jen... here. You take this. It's yours, after all," and tossed the stone to them. They both scrambled for it. Jen caught it; Jon, reaching for it, nearly knocked it out of Jen's hand, but she only laughed, and soon Jon did too.
"Oh," said Jon's mother, "and you can come out of your room now."
"That was..." said Jon.
He and Jen both said, simultaneously, "... weird!"
"Yeah," said Jen. "First she wants to use the stone for herself, and she won't give it back to us, and we can't figure out why...."
"But," continued Jon, "then she comes in and looks at us strangely, then finally she gives us the stone back without explaining it."
"Do you think..." said Jen.
"... she wished something and won't tell us?" said Jon.
"Hmm," said Karyn. "You could use the stone to find out."
"Well, me and Jon did have some things we wanted to do first," said Jen. "We haven't even fixed your breasts. But maybe Mom's wish could be important."
"And Jon," said Karyn, "if your sister thinks something is important, who are you to argue, right?"
"I know what she means, Karyn. I know my own sister like she's myself. She doesn't mean it's so important we have to do it first."
Jen nodded. "We don't even really need to use the stone now at all. Using it can be dangerous. We should think this over and not be too hasty."
And after some discussion, they....
