Jon sat there shocked, as only a motionless hamburger could, as Karyn picked him up and prepared to chow down. Her lips approached, and then suddenly she put him down and said "Wait, I need some ketchup."
Jon could do nothing else but wait. He really hoped he hadn't become dinner. Though in fact, he was already dinner--the only difference would be between eaten dinner and uneaten dinner.
Karyn returned with a bottle of ketchup, smiling. She popped the lid off, removed Jon's bun, and covered him with ketchup. It felt like having an entire bottle of shampoo poured into his hair, if he had had hair. Which he hadn't. Karyn picked up Jon yet again and raised him towards her mouth.
Then she sniffed at the air. "There's mustard in this. Jon knows I don't eat burgers with mustard!" She walked to the kitchen yet again, leaving Jon as helpless as a baby--more helpless, in fact. Soon Karyn returned with a knife. She separated Jon's pieces--which felt bizarre. Fortunately for him he didn't really feel pain as a hamburger, but it felt like his insides were being scooped out and moved all over the place yet he could still feel exactly where they were. Karyn scraped the mustard off with the knife and lay it down near the plate, then said "I need some Pepsi to go with this."
She went off to the kitchen again, once more leaving Jon with a reprieve, but also a sense of dread. Returning with a 2 liter container and a glass, she poured herself some and picked up the burger again.
Then she looked at the glass. "Oh, I forgot the ice" she said. She picked up the glass and dropped the burger on the plate, which to Jon felt like being in a descending elevator, leaving Jon to await his horrible fate once more.
When Karyn returned, she looked over her meal, said "Looks okay", and poured some Pepsi into the glass of ice, then brought the burger up to her mouth once more.
Jon began to despair that he would be saved again and prepared himself to become little bits that would float in Karyn's stomach acid. And then all of a sudden he was human, standing right next to Karyn, and she said, "Gotcha!", laughing hysterically.
"Karyn, you... you... I never knew that ketchup could be so terrifying!"
"You deserved it, Jon! You forced me to make dinner for you as a prank. I just decided to add a little bit to the joke. Were you scared sitting on that plate?"
"I... Of course I was scared. What a prank to pull on me! Though I guess I did deserve it. I don't know why I thought I could make you forget when you had the unwishing stone, anyway."
