"In fact," Karyn smirked, "I wish the characteristic you read will implement immediately and that the one week transport doesn't start until I say 'begin transport'. That way we can both get a preview."

"Oh no! Give me back the rock right now," Jon said bolting up from the chair and stumbling as he dropped off the edge while quickly rising to his feet in an intimidating manner. Catching his balance, Jon glared down into Karyn's eyes contemptuously. Strangely, Karyn's reaction was an ear to ear grin instead of the flinch he'd expected. That's when it dawned on him that his eyes were barely higher than Karyn's and ...

"Oh Jon, I was right. You're absolutely precious," Karyn giggled as she stood up.

Jon stepped back instinctively when Karyn stood and positively towered over him. "Karyn, this isn't funny!" Jon declared rather shyly instead of in the forceful tone he'd intended.

"Oh I disagree. I think it's positively delightful. You're my best friend Jon, but sometimes you can be rather overbearing. You're not in the least overbearing now," Karyn said with her hands on her hips and a great big smile as she reveled in seeing Jon looking up at her for a change.

"You made me 5 foot 2! I can't be 5'2", it's ridiculous. What if someone see me?"

"First of all," Karyn started to say before being interrupted when her mother came into the den.

"I have to run out for bit, could you empty the dishwasher when it finishes," Karyn's mother said. "And you young man had better be a gentleman while I'm gone," she chuckled as she ruffled Jon's hair on the way out.

Karyn was giving herself apoplexy trying to hold a straight face until her mother had left. Laughing so hard her sides hurt, Karyn huffed out, "Yes .. young man ... don't try ... to take ... take ... advantage ... of me ... haa haa haa !"

"Yuck it up bean pole. I'll wait." Jon glared with crossed arms.

Finally getting herself under control from laughing, Karyn continued, "Clearly being seen is not a problem, everyone thinks you're your normal height."

"Great, I'm a 5 foot 2 dweeb now. Thanks a lot!"

"Yeah about that. Remember the paper said less than 5'2". You're wearing normal shoes, I'm wearing slippers with no heal whatsoever. Here, let me step out of them. I'm 5 foot 7, well sort of. I claim the fraction over 5'6"" even if not strictly according to rounding rules, or even close to it for that matter. Look carefully. I may stretch my height claim to the breaking point, but you'd have to completely destroy the standard of measures to get anywhere near five-two cutie pie."

"Whaa ... How ... how tall am I," Jon quavered.

"I don't know exactly, but you just saw my mother and she's five-three, but then again she was wearing shoes." Pausing for effect, Karyn smiled delightedly and finished with, "of course they were flats."

"Damn it Karyn, let's get this over with" Jon said in resignation as he reached for the bowl.

"Whoa! Not so fast sweety," Karyn said, snatching the bowl away. "I want to savor the moment. Besides, I'm hungry. Let's get something to eat."

"Would you stop calling me those names", Jon huffed.

"What names pumpkin," Karyn said with delight.
