"You know, now that I think about it," said Jon, "I really don't understand transsexuals at all." Jon continued.
Karyn stared at her friend in confusion. Didn't her wish work? Did it somehow backfire? Her answer came as Jon continued speaking.
"I mean, why do they care if they're a guy or a girl to begin with? I sure as hell don't. It all just seems so materialistic, sexist even. What if a black person said they wanted to be white, or vice versa? It's pretty much the same thing when you think about it,"
Karyn was completely shocked. Was this really what the result of her wish was? She thought it would make Jon a more sensitive and understanding person, kinder to transsexuals. Instead her poor brain was struggling to process his newly developed line of reasoning. Jon didn't care whether he was male or female now and thus found the thought that anyone else would unusual at best.
"In fact, you know what Karyn? Everyone deserves to understand gender the way I do," he said, taking the stone in his hand. Karyn looked up to see a glint in her friend's eyes she couldn't remember ever seeing before. It was hypnotic and terrifying at the same time, and its paralyzing effect kept her from trying to get the stone back from Jon.
