We were about out of the door when the LAPTOP chimed again. It was another message from LANCE. I opened it and it again displayed the Hologram thingy.
"Here is an update for you; all of Central Operations are out of commission. Things look bleak. I guess since you are now the last hope, I better give you some insight on what you are going to be facing. Leslie, the woman you are now David/Misty, was my right hand woman. She was strong, funny and most importantly a brainiac. She helped us patch the first major assault on Central Command that happened in the BETA of FOG."
"At that time, we were still young and naïve, I never expected anyone to abuse the system. But someone did it, someone created an alternative entry point that allowed people to enter without restrictions. Those hackers became the first DEVILS, but we would not know about them until the Public Beta Launch. At that time, Leslie was just beginning to program, but Sam was already well established. Sam was my then right hand man. He helped me launch the system, but then became too interested in the other potentials. When a FOG console links to our system, it gives us the potential full access to a persons mind. I never wanted to do anything with that and in fact was trying to patch that, but Sam wanted to use it. I fired him for it, and then it happened."
"It was the assault, we had no defenses, and we had no weapons yet. We were badly beaten, but the fail safes kicked in and saved us all. We quickly learned what happened and began fixing thing. Sam had used his backdoor and entered the system again with his DEVILS. He assumed the AVATAR of LORD DEATH. He then tapped a few minds and started getting more help."
"That is when Leslie stepped up and shined. She found the hole and patched it. She then worked on several new things that she helped us introduce. She helped us install the safeties that protected the users from the system, as well as the system from the users. She helped us upgrade the scope of the Fail Safe, and she helped do all of the testing. That is why she is so important, she knows more about this damn thing than I do. And now Sam, or LORD DEATH has her. He will try to undo everything I have done and she has done to protect the players. You have to stop them. The only person that can save Leslie is you David. If you break her of his control, she will be able to use her Final Attack, FAIL SAFE UNLIMITED, which will unload all users and reboot the FOG world, ejecting all DEVILS and repairing all of the Central Operation Centers. Please, save her and the world. This is no longer just saving a Digital world, but there are over ten million actual gamers trapped in this world. Please, save them all!"
And with that, the imaged faded, but there was a brief bit of audio, it sounded like someone crying. I knew that this mission had stepped up dramatically now.
"Ok Suzie, Lets get Mace and get the rest of these Heros, we have 2 worlds to save!" Misty shouted as they both rand down to the Bar below.
