It was obvious that Kimiko liked Jon, She was only a year younger than him. So age wasn't an issue. But her ethnicity was. She wasn't white like Jon. He'd never say it out loud, but he thought it would be weird for them to have an interracial relationship.
"Come on, Jon," she said, smiling.
Jon did have to admit, though, that she looked cute, though she wasn't quite his type. Then an idea popped into Jon's head. The stone! He could use it to make Kimiko a Caucasian. Then it wouldn't be so awkward.
He took the stone out of his pocket and said, "I wish Kimiko and I were the same race."
Jon felt the stone's power radiate from his hand and permeate every cell of his body. "No!" A second later, he realized that he had changed.
"Jon? What's wrong?" asked Kimiko, who still looked exactly the same ... unlike Jon.
