The phone rang and Jon answered it, already suspecting who it was.
"Hey, Jon. Just wanted to know if you wanted to go to the mall or something," Karyn said.
"Oh, I thought you called because ..."
"Because of what?" There was a pause. "You didn't use a wish on me, did you?" She sounded like she was getting a little angry.
"Well ... sort of, yeah."
"What did you do to me?" Yeah, she was angry.
"You didn't notice?"
"How could I? I didn't hear your wish. Remember?"
"Oh, yeah. I forgot."
"Well?" Karyn was getting more irritated.
"Well what?"
"What did you do?"
"I made your hair red again. But I guess it didn't work, because ..."
"What do you mean by red again? This is the first time I've tried dyeing my hair."
"Dyeing your hair?" Jon was a little confused. But then he realized that it must be that way because of the stone.
"Yeah, I dyed it red about a month ago. Don't you remember?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah. Of course."
There was a pause. "So ... are you still coming to the mall? Maybe bring the stone with you?"
"Uh, sure."
"Okay, see you there," Karyn said, then hung up.
Jon looked down at the stone in his hand, then stuffed it in his pocket, and left for the mall.
