I had to remember not to panic. I checked around me and there was one more female spy in the room with me. Since I had switched bodies with one of the spies, she shouldn't notice anything wrong. I just needed to go and get the rock....
Let's see, I thought as I headed for the stairs. First I wished my family were the ones with the guns. The stone made that wish come true by swapping bodies.
Boris's body->Mom and my sisters (fainted--it seemed that when one fainted, they all fainted; the two remaining did not control the body)
Natasha's body->me and Dad
My sisters' bodies->Boris and Natasha (left the room)
Mom's, Dad's. my body->nobody
Then Dad and I made a wish. It separated us and put Dad in Natasha's body. Natasha had disappeared and I guessed that Dad was in Natasha's body somewhere "appreciating" it. I knew I was in Mom's body, and if the stone didn't decide to affect random extra people, then Boris and Natasha were still in my sisters' bodies. Then I made the stupid wish about being in a more attractive body.
So we now had:
Upstairs spy's body->me
Mom's body->upstairs spy (heard no wishes)
Natasha's body->Dad (disappeared)
My sisters' bodies->Boris and Natasha (left the room)
Boris's, Dad's, my body->Mom and my sisters (heard only the first wish, fainted)
When I arrived downstairs I saw the remaining goons, who were milling about confused, and Boris's body, Dad's body, and my own lying there. The goons hadn't yet tried to wake what seemed to be their boss.
I made a guess and raised my gun, pointing it at my mom's body. "Mrs. Pomeroy," I said, "drop whatever you're holding."
There was fear in Mom's eyes as the woman in her body dropped the rock. "W-- what are you going to do to us?" she stammered. Success! Since the spy from upstairs had heard no wishes, she thought Mom's body was hers--she thought she really was Mom. I wondered what had happened to the people who heard some wishes but not others. If Mom was swapped once, then swapped again while unconscious, did she think she was the person she was now in, or did the first wish mean she knew she was swapped and would keep knowing it if she was swapped a second time?
I grabbed the rock and said "I wish everyone else in the house would fall asleep until I wake them up." They all dropped to the ground. "I wish Dad is here." Natasha's body appeared, and looked around, confused, then spotted the gun in my hand and halted.
"Hold it," I said. "It's me, Dad." He didn't hear the wish that brought him here, but hearing the other wishes seemed to be enough to know he was teleported.
"Are you really...?" he said.
"I wish you're asleep too." No sense in having him mess things up again. "I wish the spies in my sisters' bodies are here and asleep as well."
"Huh?" he said in Natasha's voice and collapsed, next to the newly appearing bodies of my sisters.
I sat down. Whew. Now I just had to reverse all the wishes... and from what I knew, it was impossible to reverse wishes! Yet--I also knew we could interpret wishes in different ways and that the magic rock didn't interpret them the right way. Well, I could tell it how to interpret them.
First step: swap us back... "I wish that we're all in our original bodies." No! That could be a disaster. I'd be asleep. I added "... and I'm still awake."
I was suddenly on the ground in my own body, holding a gun. I stood up, plucked the stone from the upstairs female spy, and said "I wish everyone here remembers who they really are." I didn't want the female spy to be back in her own body and still thinking she was Mom, after all.
Okay, now, my own bad wish. If I have to be female I should be attractive. Wait... that was already reversed. I was in my own body. I realized that that wish was conditional. If I have to be female. If I didn't have to be female, the wish would reverse itself. It meant that I could never turn into an ugly female for the rest of my life, but I figured I could handle that.
And the wish about us being the ones with the guns... I felt the cold metal in my hand--I already had a gun! Again the stone was ahead of me. When I swapped us back, the stone had to do it without contradicting the first wish, so it already made us be the ones with the guns.
That left one last wish: Dad appreciating Natasha's body under better circumstances. Well, these were better circumstances, right?
I wished the goons and bad guys (including the ones upstairs) to be tied up, I brought the dead goon back (funny how I can use the magic stone to casually resurrect people), and I woke my family up. "We need to talk," I said. "Dad, you've been doing secret government research. Some kind of formula. I wish you'd explain it to me...."
