Lisa had every intention of staying and confronting Shannon, but she chickened out. She had no idea what you would say to Shannon. She was still grappling with the revelation of who Shannon really was, the real or rather the original Lisa. That was what did it in the end. Lisa's breath caught in her chest as the panic rose. She went to the door and was about to leave when she realized computer was still on and the GPS window was still open. She ran back, rather than take the time to shut it down to just flip the switch on the power strip taking out everything on the desk. The printer made an ugly sound as the power died, but Lisa could care less about that. She still had the key to the front door. She ran outside shut the door and locked it. She walked briskly towards the elevator. She press the down button, but realized her mistake. What if Shannon was already in the elevator? She walked down the hall to the staircase and opened the door.
Lisa tried to catch her breath, but with her heart racing and given how freaked out she was she couldn't get her breathing under control. "Shannon" had really been Lisa! She kept going over the events of the day. Why did she do it? Lisa's thoughts were interrupted by a hollow bell that signaled the elevator had arrived. She didn't know if it was Shannon, but she also didn't want to stick around and find out. She took off down the stairs trying to minimize the sound of her footfalls. Between the flip-flops and the metal staircase the reverberations from her walk were quite noticeable. Lisa could only hope they didn't carry into the hallway proper. She kept going all the way to the ground floor. She banged open the door into the lobby and walked across to the exit as quickly as she could. She took a moment to glance around, but didn't see anyone. She walked away from the building and ran to her car. She climbed in and started to back out, but messed up the clutch and the car died. "Shit." She exclaimed "fucking piece of shit car." Lisa tried again this time getting it right. She turned and drove out of the parking lot as quickly as she could. She never noticed third-floor window and the curtain that dropped back into place as she pulled away.
Lisa was crying softly as she drove. Now that she wasn't paying attention anymore her shifting had gone back to expert. She didn't have any clear destination. She just wanted to get away from James apartment. She didn't know what to say to Shannon and now she didn't know what to do. The only place left to go was back to Jack's and Lisa's house. Part of her desperately wanted to climb back into bed with Jack, but she was still feeling used and part of her resented being a pawn in some sort of experiment. She drove for another couple of minutes and decided, "Fuck it. Whatever else happens I'll have his arms around me again." She pulled a U-turn and sped up. She needed comfort. She needed reassurance. The best place for either of those in her opinion was Jack's arms.
She made the turn into her driveway a little too fast and had to slam on the brakes before she hit the garage. The car was an odd angle, but she'd forgot to put the clutch in and it died again when she stopped. She didn't care enough to move it. She set the break and got out. As she did, she noticed a Victoria's Secret bag in the back seat. She reached in and picked it up.
She walked inside and headed upstairs. She walked past the living room and was headed towards the bedroom when she noticed the note that Shannon had left earlier. She hadn't read it yet, and knowing what she did now she wondered what it said.
