Zoë hit the snooze button for the second time, her hand flailing out and rocking the nightstand. Finally, it was left to Jon to wake her up.

It always irritated Jon that he had to be the one to wake Zoë up every morning. Just because she was up all night burning candles and chanting weird phrases didn't mean that he should have to be responsible for her when she couldn't wake up in the morning. According to their parents, though, he was the oldest and thus was responsible for getting her to school on time. Sighing, he went in to her room to wake her up again.

He shook her a few times and called "Zoë! Hey, it's time to get up. Come on."

Mumbling, she made a few noises and threw the covers off of her head, eyes squinted. Jon wondered if it were just because she'd been sleeping, but he could have sworn her lips seemed a little swollen. Her eyes also seemed a little bigger, but it might have just been his imagination.

When it looked like she was going to wake up, he started to leave, but tripped on something near the nightstand. When he stooped to pick up the rock there, he recognized it immediately.

"Damnit, Zoë!" he yelled, "I wish you'd just leave my stuff alone!" Exasperated, he left the room fuming. At least now he could do something for Karyn when he saw her at school.

Zoë got up slowly, realizing that Jon had taken back his stupid rock, the one that hadn't worked right last night. If he wanted it he could have it. She didn't want to mess with anything of his. The dumb thing didn't even work anyway.

But, as she stretched she felt... strange.
