As Karen walked down the steps to her mother, she mused to herself softly, so that the others couldn't hear.
"God, everyone's so nice to me, thinking I hate this, but I'll be damned if it doesn't feel good. I almost wish there could be more. I wish I could feel this forever!"
Karen suddenly felt faint, and stumbled on the steps. Her mother caught her and helped her up.
"You okay, sweetie?"
Karen's fur seemed to ripple, becoming longer and thicker in patches. She brushed her hair out of her face, her nails seeming just a little longer, and looked at her mother, her eyes now a startling green. She smiled, and her teeth seemed odd, imperceptibly sharper in a feral way.
"Oh, Mom, I'm just fine. I'm great"
Karen rubbed her furry calves together, and started for the door.
She had realized what she had done, and knew there was no going back. She could feel gradual changes working their way through her, and she knew she would get worse, possibly a lot worse. She wasn't sure how far into these changes she would sink, but God help her, she was craving them...
