"Before we go, I should let Alex know that I'm leaving early. Oh, and I was supposed to review these documents from Murdock & Massey. I should get that done too." Peter said.
Jenna looked back at him quizically "That's odd, are you sure he didn't just want one of his legal staff to do it? And Alex? Since when were you on a first name basis with him? He's a lecherous slimeball Penny, you shouldn't encourage him."
"What? Alex is not! Why would you say such a thing?" Peter only remembered Alex as a good golfing buddy. Sure he always seemed a bit of a ladies man, but a lecherous slimeball?
"Oh come off it Penny! I know he comes on to you strong because half the time he does it to me he thinks I'm you. I hope your not be warming up to him because you have a husband and 3 kids to think about. Though I am surprised it has lasted this long considering you were only 14 when you..." Jenna stopped, as if she had gone too far in her rant.
She very well would have if Peter could remember his life as Penny, but he couldn't, so he didn't really take it personally. He did remain silent however as he was amazed at the news, and just when he thought this new reality couldn't get any stranger.
Jenna's eyes searched his momentarily to see if he was hurt. "I'm sorry sis, I shouldn't have said that. But you know I love those kids just as much as you do and would hate to see them get hurt." Her eyes looked into Peter's as if she was expecting him to speak.
Realizing what she was suggesting about what she thought was going on Peter spoke up "Look Jenna, there is nothing going on between me and Al... Mr. Johnson," Peter corrected himself quickly seeing Jenna's eyes flash, "nor will there be. Ever." Peter then shuddered at the revolting thought of him being with Alex, or any man for that matter.
"Well, that may be the case, but I just want you to keep your guard up and not get too personal with him ok?"
"Ok Jenna, geez, I get it." Peter said a bit irritably, he felt like he was getting a lecture from his mother and at the same time he was disgusted by everthing she was suggesting.
"Hey, no need to get upset. I'm just trying to watch out for ya, we sisters have to do that for each other. Anyway, I'll go in and ask Mr. Johnson about the Murdock & Massey files and tell him you'll be leaving for the rest of the day. I'll help cover for anything he needs when I get back from driving you home."
Peter wanted to say that he could just go tell Alex himself, but the more he thought about it the more he didn't want to. He didn't want Alex to see him like this and if any of what Jenna was saying was true, he sure as hell didn't want Alex hitting on him. He gave Jenna a meek smile "Thanks sis, I appreciate it. I'll wait for you here."
Jenna smiled at him as she picked up the files "K, I'll be right back." With that she strode to a door back behind Penny's desk and knocked lightly before entering.
Peter was stunned because it was the first time he realized he was sitting in what used to be Susan Tanner's desk, positioned in a small waiting area in front of Alex Johnson's office. "Oh my God, I'm Alex's personal secretary." No wonder Jenna had been surprised when he said he had to review the Murdock & Massey files... he was no longer the lead of Alex's legal team.
