The stone was nowhere to be found within the locker, leaving Jon no choice but to endure the remainder of the school day. Even with the changes to his timetable, the soonest he'd see Karyn was still lunch.
With a sigh, Jon checked his watch. "Oh crap, I'll never make it back in time", 10 minutes until class ended, there was no way he could backtrack across the school again ,the only way he'd make it back in time would be to pass Sarah & Biff.
Grabbing his math book, Jon closed the locker and made his way toward the stairs, again cringing at the jiggling he headed down.
Leaving the stairwell, Sarah & Biff were still mid make-out.
Maybe they won't notice me if I'm quick enough he pondered, hastily moving himself down the corridor.
Slipping past unnoticed, he seemed to be in the clear.
"Hey dork!" barked Biff, "Buzz off, can't you see we're busy here!"
Jon cringed but kept walking.
"I like your sandals Jon!" chirped Sarah
What? Jon thought.
Biff turned to his girlfriend, "Why are you talking to that nerd?"
"I told you to leave my friends alone, Biff" Sarah huffed. "Let's go somewhere quieter" she grabbed his arm and dragged him off.
Friends with Sarah? Jon shuddered at the thought.
Looking through the classroom door, Jon could see Ashley was still working on the project. Reaching for the handle, Jon started opening the door.
BRRRRRIIIINNNGGGG
Jon almost jumped out of his skin at the sound of the bell. He'd managed to get back right as the class ended.
