Sarah got out of her mothers car, sighing, as she looked over the school yard. "Still half an hour before school starts..." she said, walking to the entrance of the school. She didn't notice that her hair had become slightly darker and shorter over the course of the car ride to school.
After entering the school, she decided to head to the computer lab to kill some time before home room. "Odds are, my friends will end up their anyway." she said to herself.
As she walked to where the computer room, she saw Jon McMillan and Karyn Black walking the opposite way that she was headed. They each saw her as well.
"Hi Sarah." Jon said. "Nice morning, huh?"
"Yeah, I suppose it is." Sarah replied. The exchange ended there. Jon may be one of the very few individuals in the popular clique who was nice to everyone, but he and Sarah were still a far cry from being friends.
Sarah quickly pushed the quick meeting out of her mind as she reached the computer lab. As she reached toward the door knob to open the door, she failed to notice that her fingernails were now short and no longer manicured.
As she sat at one of the computers and booted it up, she began to muse on the social hierarchy. Unfortunately, Jon happened to be in the minority of the popular group, being an all around nice individual. Though, even those who were generally cruel to those who they saw as being beneath them generally left Sarah alone. The confidence she had in her own abilities seemed to make her slightly inapproachable as a target of ridicule.
As the computer finally booted up to the desktop, Sarah clicked on the internet and began surfing around.
